The Nijjar killing case has now been transferred to the British Columbia Supreme Court and is scheduled to begin on February 11, 2025.

The four accused -Karan Brar, Amandeep Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, and Karanpreet Singh - were charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The four Indian Nationals were arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in May 2024 from all across Canada.

However, despite this, the arrest and trial of the four Indians faced flak due to the lack of evidence against the accused. All four men were accused of working with agents of the Indian government to assassinate Nijjar.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was the leader for the Khalistan Tiger Force and a known extremist. The Indian-government designation terrorist was gunned down outside a gurudwara in Surrey, British Columbia in June 2023.

His killing drew international attention and officially downgraded Indo-Canadian ties.

The Savita Punia-led side has played five matches in the Pro League so far, out of which it has lost four and won one.

Having established a foothold during the Khelo India Winter Games, there are bigger plans around the NDS rink. India-Canada suffered a huge setback after the Trudeau government alleged that the Indian government was responsible for the killing of the Canadian-Sikh citizen.
